NASCAR announced in November a new rule stipulating a change in the 2005 qualifying procedures where all cars will be impounded following their qualifying session. This means teams will not be permitted to work on the cars and will have to focus their efforts on preparing for race set-ups starting with the all-important practice sessions on Friday. These new NASCAR Rules will take place at the California Speedway on the 2005 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series and NASCAR Busch Series season schedule February 25-27. In Escondido, California, Patio Playhouse will hold auditions for "Winnie-the-Pooh" at 10 a.m. Jan. 8 at the theater, 201 E. Grand Ave., Suite 1-D.
Children ages 8 through 16 are invited to audition for the show, where Kanga tries to bring order and cleanliness to the 100 Acre Wood. Most roles require solo singing performances. The company that owns Sesame Street children's apparel is ending its exclusive contract with Kmart Holding Corp. Kmart spokesman Stephen Pagnani said that the Troy-based retailer will retain some Sesame Street products, but he could not say which specific merchandise the company will keep.
Sesame Workshop, which owns the rights to classic characters such as Big Bird, Elmo and Cookie Monster, will sell the clothing at retailers other than Kmart beginning in July, spokeswoman Beatrice Chow told The Detroit News for a Thursday story.
This will allow Sesame Street apparel to have a wider product distribution. Officials from both companies said that ending the seven-year relationship was a mutual decision.

Researchers at a New Jersey hospital have found playing handheld video games like the Powerpuff Girls relaxes children facing surgery more than tranquilizers or holding their parent's hand. The study compared three groups of 26 children each. All had parents with them in the operating room until they were anesthetized. One group also got a tranquilizer and the third played with a Game Boy. "We find that the children are just so happy with the Game Boy that they actually do forget where they are," Patel, an anesthesiologist at University Hospital in Newark and assistant professor of anesthesiology at University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, told The Associated Press. Giving a child a Gameboy game gift of Powerpuff Girls or Yu Gi Oh might be a nice way to incorporate the hospital experience. Then having an after surgery Powerpuff Girls party or a Yu Gi Oh party would be a nice closure.

We have had a couple of updates from various sources about the upcoming filming of “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire” which is currently filming. It is 75% complete. "We just had the 120th day of shooting from 160 planned," said executive producer David Heyman. "The underwater scenes were tricky... constantly three divers were swimming around Dan to provide him with oxygen. The average child watches two to three hours of television a day. That includes preschoolers.
